Testimonials What people are saying about us

Jonathan W - UK

"A fantastic experience - from ash stave to working bow with arrows in 3 absorbing days! Jamie’s tuition was of the highest quality which more than made up from my lack of skills and experience in bow craft. All the necessary tools and materials were provided which we used is a calm but busy atmosphere. The Action Zone venue was spot on and added to the enjoyment, giving the course a real bushcraft feel with its log buildings and ever burning fire. Despite some less than ideal weather I didn’t want the course to finish. I learnt new skills, made some great new friends and walked away with an impressive ash flat bow. Cannot recommend the experience highly enough. Thank you!"

“Had a great time making a flat bow from a single stave of ash this weekend with Jamie. I've been wanting to learn to make new things like carving spoons, blacksmithing knives, and making charcuterie, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I finally decided to do this for my birthday, and it was a great weekend. I enjoyed the process, the learning, and the camraderie.”

James K - Colorado, USA

"I've been shooting bows since I was a child but always imagined them as something made by engineers in a factory. In this course, I made a fully functioning bow with tools that literally fit in a pocket. In addition to the intrinsic "cool factor", bow making is also a unique kind of woodworking as bows need to be simultaneously light, strong, and flexible. Jamie is a patient and knowledgeable instructor. I'd highly recommended his class for bushcrafters, woodworkers, and archers. Bring a comfortable seat and some steaks for the grill!"

"When I first saw this course on Facebook I couldn’t stop thinking about it! I was so glad I plucked up the courage to contact Jamie about getting my place booked! All too often in life, opportunities are missed and I’m so glad I put my fears aside and just went for it because it was such an amazing experience! Jamie is passionate and extremely knowledgeable in his field of expertise and is very approachable which puts you at ease straight away, in fact all the guys working on site were so lovely, it was such a nice atmosphere to work in! I would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in this course to stop thinking about it and just do it! You will not be disappointed and I’m already considering an extension to this course when it becomes available! Thanks once again Jamie! Krysia"

"After 2 days under the tutelage of Jamie I have produced a sheath knife and a leather knife sheaf that I am very proud of.

As a complete novice, Jamie was able to tailor this knife making course to my level of ability. His depth of knowledge and understanding was reflected in his easy teaching style. I always felt that everything was achievable as Jamie has a natural ability to convey ideas and to inspire.

A really great 2 days, thanks Jamie!"

Thank you Jamie for a fantastic course, I learned many things about bow making, met some great people, had a good laugh with them all, and at the end of the course we had all made a long bow. A great way to spend a few days outdoors.
